Presbyterian Women Honor Rachel Bowron

Congratulations to Rachel Bowron who received a membership in Presbyterian Women’s Honorary Life Membership Program for her faithful service to the Lord here at First Presbyterian Church.
Rachel is passionate about church ministry and showing the love of Christ through her many behind the scenes activities. She is serves on the Nominating Committee and for the past 2 years has served as co-moderator for Presbyterian Women. In this position she has helped organized some wonderful speakers, music and luncheons for the women and also for the men of our church.

Rachel joined Circle 10 and is a part of the Beth Moore women’s evening bible study, acknowledging her need for personal growth in her relationship with God.

Rachel recently retired from the Washington DC, Department of Veteran’s Affairs after 27 years of service. Rachel and her husband Sandy have been members of FPC since January 2013 and attend the 8:15 worship service.

We are blessed in so many ways by Rachel’s willingness to serve.  She sets a wonderful example for the rest of us to use our talents to serve the Lord.  She gives much credit to her husband Sandy for his enthusiastic support of her roles at FPC.

Presbyterian Women is an organized way for all women to build friendships, study the word of God and engage in mission. The goal is to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study, to support the mission of the church worldwide, to work for justice and peace, and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.

During the past year, Presbyterian Women of FPC have donated over $4,000 to 18 local and global charitable organizations. Beneficiaries include Rivers of the World, Happy Workers Children's Center, Operation attack, and scholarships to Beth El and Cedarkirk Summer Camps.

2017-2018 study will be “Cloud of Witnesses-The Community of Christ in Hebrews” by Melissa Bane Sevier.  Come join us in fellowship and study each of these 9 months, September- May, as we learn together and are encouraged by traditions of our faith.
